Do I really need therapy?
Therapy truly is for everyone, and taking care of your mental health is a step in taking care of your overall health. Therapy can be a helpful tool with any challenge you are facing no matter the size. Meeting with a therapist can provide you a space to explore your own thoughts and needs without judgment, in confidence. Therapists are specially trained to teach you new skills, and assist you in developing new perspectives that can be beneficial.
What can I expect in the first session?
During your first session your provider will complete an assessment of your needs. This is a fancy way of saying they will learn about you, your concerns, and create a plan with you on what your work together will look like. You will a have the opportunity to meet your provider & acclimate to the space. Sessions will typically last 50-60 minutes.
What kind of time investment can I expect?
Every individual has different needs and will require a varying level of treatment. It is difficult to say how long it will take to meet your goals. Frequency of sessions also varies depending on the person. Good news is all of these things can be discussed with your individual therapist based on your needs, schedule, and clinical recommendations. Each session can be expected to last 45-55 minutes depending on your needs.
What if I don’t feel a connection with my therapist?
Relationships can take time to build, and it can feel weird to talk to someone about your most intimate problems at first! It can take several sessions to feel more comfortable in the therapy process. However, if you truly don’t feel a connection with your therapist, that’s okay! Our therapists here recognize that they may not be the perfect fit for everyone, and the number one priority is getting you the support that you are looking for.
